Prin 1999 sau 2000 scriam la o revistă electronică (epress), prima de acest fel din ţară. Exista un site dar pentru că majoritatea aveau conexiune dial-up, revista venea arhivată prin e-mail şi era concepută ca un site, se deschidea într-un browser. Mă ocupam de secţiunea ”Grafică”. Printre altele, am scris pe atunci un articol foarte scurt în care spuneam că Adobe va cumpăra Macromedia. Întrucât nu am avut cum să-mi menţionez sursele (nu mai reţineam unde citisem), mi-am atras un număr impresionant de critici şi atât de copleşti am fost (aveam vreo 18 ani) că a trebuit să scriu —în numărul ce a urmat— un articol în care să-mi cer scuze.
În ziua în care s-a întâmplat achiziţia în sine, la circa 7 ani după întâmplarea din revistă, nu mai aveam cum să scriu aceloraşi cititori. Acum mă întreb cum ar fi reacţionat aceştia dacă aş fi scris ”v-am spus eu!”.
Acum ceva timp m-am gândit la o nouă achiziţie Adobe. Era vorba de Buzzword. Se pare că mai e cel puţin o persoană în locul meu, acum că s-a întâmplat.

Nokia to set up a new mobile device factory in Romania
Espoo, Finland — Nokia today announced that it will set up a manufacturing facility for mobile devices in the county of Cluj in Romania. Nokia anticipates investing an estimated EUR 60 million in the Cluj plant, which will be the company’s 11th mobile device production facility globally.
The decision to establish a new factory in Romania is a reflection of Nokia’s strong volume growth globally, as well as the increasing demand for mobile devices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Nokia selected Cluj as the location for the plant because of the county’s availability of skilled labour, its good inbound and outbound logistics connections, its overall efficiency, and the long industrial tradition in the area.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed today in Romania’s capital, Bucharest. At the signing, Raimo Puntala, Senior Vice President for Nokia’s Operations and Logistics, said: ‘As the global market leader for mobile devices, Nokia is committed to ensuring good product availability and smooth deliveries to important markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.’
Nokia’s new facility in Cluj is located about 400 kilometers north-west of Bucharest. The construction work at Cluj will start in spring 2007 and production is expected to begin in the first half of 2008. Nokia foresees ramping up the factory gradually and will recruit approximately 500 employees there by the end of 2007. As part of the plans, Nokia is looking to establish an industrial village in the area, enabling a number of key suppliers and partners to locate their operations there.
Nokia continuously develops its global manufacturing network to increase competitiveness and provide excellent logistics services for its customers. In 2006, the company completed expansions at its Reynosa plant in Mexico and its Dongguan plant in China, and ramped up production at the Chennai plant in India. In Europe, Nokia already has production facilities in Bochum in Germany, Komárom in Hungary and Salo in Finland.
De ieri pe la prânz am aflat că Photoshop CS3 va avea, practic, două versiuni, alături de Photoshop Lightroom, Photoshop Elements şi Photoshop Album Starter Edition.
O versiune se numeşte simplu, Photoshop CS3 şi este versiunea cu care ne-am obişnuit, dacă putem spune, dedicată artiştilor 2d, fotografi, designeri, graficieni, web designeri etc., iar a doua, denumită Photoshop CS3 Extended, este îmbunătăţită şi dedicată în special editorilor video, designerilor şi graficienilor ce folosesc 3d şi animaţie, arhitecţilor, inginerilor şi proiectanţilor, profesioniştilor în medicină şi ştiinţă şi are în plus câteva funcţii specifice –de exemplu suport pentru animaţie (am văzut asta şi în versiunea beta deşi pare mai mult ceva preluat din ImageReady), posibilitatea de a edita obiecte 3D şi de a le incorpora în lucrări 2D, unelte de desen, clonare şi altele dedicate pentru editare video pentru ca apoi să poţi exporta animaţiile în format QuickTime, MPEG4, Flash etc., precum şi o serie de unelte de măsurare şi analiză a imaginilor, mă rog, chestii de care probabil eu nu voi avea nevoie deşi aş fi curios să le văd – .
De asemenea, tot de la Adobe avem invitaţie pentru a urmări online evenimentul de pe 27 Martie, lansarea oficială Adobe Creative Suite 3.
Tot citind despre uneltele noi din Photoshop şi ce planuri au împreună cu Dartmouth College, Reuters şi Canon, am găsit o mică galerie de imagini prelucrate, devenite celebre, am mai aflat că Nokia ar putea construi o ceva de 200 de milioane de euro undeva în zona Cluj.

Adobe are şi un teaser drăguţ pentru UK (prea lung) şi o întreagă campanie bazată pe noua identitate, cu tot cu site şi interacţiune cu agenţii şi artişti consacraţi: whatisinthebox.co.uk
